On flat, relatively level ground, raptor will leave jackal in the dust. If you are moving up a hill though, jackal will take the lead. Raptors leap is trash uphill, which allows jackals natural speed to take over. All Activity; Home ; Game Discussion ; Guild Wars 2 Discussion ; Are all the other mounts useless once you get flying mount? It also helps to escape foes because you can glide in combat. Glider gives a lot more control and maneuverability compared to a griffon or skyscale. It helps a lot in spots where Skyscale is too clunky to maneuver around. You can even use your glider to enhance your mounts. With Skyscale 2 dashes + Bond of Vigor for extra 2 dashes + Jade Bot
Guild Wars 2 has two flying mounts: the Griffon and the dragon-like Skyscale. Each of them works on different physics, with the former acting like a high-speed glider, and the latter offering more

Canthan Tigris Griffon Mount Skin Pack. While flying tigers might sound like a terrifying concept, this adorable Canthan griffon breed only resembles a tiger. They’re far more interested in joining you on your adventures than they are in having you for lunch. Add the Canthan Tigris, Qinkaishi Tigris, and Blazing Tigris to your mount skin

Jackal doesn’t really have use outside desert maps but it’s mastery line is useful for all mounts. You do need to finish story to dive underwater with Skimmer or get Griffon. Roller Beetle and Skyscale require you to finish quite a bit of LWS4 and definitely aren’t necessary for anything. 3.

Propose a flying mount in Guild Wars 2, and there’s an obvious challenge in that its content to date has been designed with players’ feet firmly on the ground. “We knew we had to be careful with how we went about tackling ‘flying’ in the game,” says Cronacher. I don't remember where I heard it but they mentioned there would not be any flight in Guild Wars 2 at all. The reason being, if you can just fly over everything, the land and monuments lose their scale and meaning. Flying really devalues the traveling experience. That aside, with map travel, I dont really see a need for flying mounts.
Credit to Guild Wars 2 Wiki for photo. Each collection consists of collecting runestones from events, finding and collecting griffon eggs scattered across the map, and buying items from Heart Merchants. There are 10 items in total that must be purchased. Each item costs 25, so a total of 250 gold is needed to unlock the mount.

The two new mounts (turtle and skiff) will cover multi-occupant. It would be a hard effort to try and design anything else that isn't already covered by the aforementioned mounts and doesn't supersede them. Maybe its about variety, and the 2 seater mounts one is water only and the other is slooowww.

I believe that going with movement path for mounts is great idea like give my skyscale more speed or give my griffon vertical movement same as skyscale and I will enjoy game a lot more. Adding mount combat is gimmick and I am doing Gyala Delve meta for several weeks now and suprise suprise almost noone like "forced" turtle parts.
/r/GuildWars2 is the primary community for Guild Wars 2 on Reddit. Griffon is a flying mount that can fly very fast but is tricky to launch. Skyscale is a flying

I could see having to go to a central waypoint for map-to-map travel and then use the short-distance waypoints for intra-map travel. Yes, traveling from one map edge to another is shorter than traveling from one side of a map to another, but we already have to go through a portal so why we have to do that should be a good enough reason for the waypoints too.

To help you explore those maps, you’ll also get access to a new, streamlined method to unlock your skyscale mount, plus new Masteries for flying mounts. The raptor mount will also be unlocked for owners of Guild Wars 2: Secrets of the Obscure, although you’ll still need Guild Wars 2: Path of Fire™ to train its associated Masteries. CXGlE.
