Sounds like the Sandisk extreme card you have is counterfeit. I have genuine Sandisk cards and there is not a single difference between the extreme and extreme pro cards, because even if you use gopro labs and 200mbit/s bitrate, the extreme cards already do about 500mbit/s (tested with the gopro card speedtest)

April 12, 2020 at 6:03 PM. SD card formatting. So I want to be clear. I can format the SD card for my Hero 7 black with Windows 10 and camera function will be compatible with it. Looks like it uses exFat file table. I see it is recommended to do a Full format (not the Quick format). The in camera function only does a quick format.

The GoPro HD Hero 2 states on the FAQ page: You will need to get a class-4 or higher SD card from a reputable brand and source in order to use the camera effectively. A class-10 SD card is recommended when using Time-Lapse mode or photo every 0.5 seconds. Class 4 isn't that fast by today's standards, and actually equates to 4MB/s read/write speeds.
